What Blog Party
Who Channel V
EA had an Channel [V]’s groundbreaking series Blog Party took blogging and turned it into reality TV. Central to the concept was tricking up Channel [V]’s MySpace page to allow video blogs to be viewed and votes to be cast. This weeks online winners became next weeks on air contestants vying for a cash prize.

We love a challenge. With an on-air deadline looming failure was not an option.

Collaborating with MySpace was key. Thanks to our close relationship we were able to bypass default restrictions and customise Channel [V]’s page. The page allowed an iFrame to be loaded and viewing and voting was done via an embedded Flash video player.

With cash up for grabs voting was made hackproof via a custom backend component using encrypted XML. Modular Flash architecture loaded external static XML files maintained by the
client so there was no need for a custom CMS and no need for a crazy budget.
